You can see this picturesque pagoda from a distance. Matt told me that the word pagoda comes from Portuguese. I found this fascinating and looked into it a little further. Pagoda does come from Portuguese (pagode) but -- it turns out -- the Portuguese got it from Persian (butkada). And the Persians got it from Tamil (pagavadi, which means "house of deity")! Zounds!
