Karaoke is one of the most popular pastimes in Japan. We certainly went to
karaoke quite a few times and it was a blast. My complete lack of singing ability notwithstanding, I always enjoyed watching everyone sing and have a good time. Clara sings really well and did a great job getting everyone hyped up to sing. Adam and Brooke did Bon Jovi duets with much flair and gusto (also a popular flavor of spaghetti sauce).

On the far left is Goma. She's a pharmacist in Hiroshima and among the nicest, friendliest, and coolest people we met in Japan. We all really enjoyed hanging out with her. Her bubbly personality is practically infectious. Whenever we pulled up a camera, she was ready with a big smile and a peace sign (
or two).
Goma is actually her nickname and means seal (the animal) in Japanese. Goma also means sesame seeds since the marks on a seal's body can resemble sesame seeds.
